Designing the Patterns for planting Agricultural Crops

Design and Implementation of a Platform for Developing Agricultural Production Models and Crop Planting Patterns

Determining the optimal planting pattern for each region has long been an inherent duty of the ministries responsible for agriculture and a longstanding aspiration of agricultural sector officials. This objective has been emphasized in numerous laws since the 1970s. Despite the passage of various laws and regulations regarding the determination and implementation of crop patterns, and although it has been one of the most crucial duties of the responsible agencies in the agricultural sector, it has not been fully addressed. According to Clause (B) of Note 8 of the National Budget Law for 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad is mandated to promulgate the national crop pattern, a task assigned to the Agricultural Research, Education, and Extension Organization (AREEO). In June 2022, utilizing the human resources and research outcomes within AREEO and drawing on experiences gained over the past years within the Deputy of Crop Production, the initial program for reforming crop planting patterns for the 2022-2023 agricultural year (Phase One) was developed and issued. In This program, the crop pattern determination is based on environmental conditions, optimal utilization of resources, and production factors in line with regional potentials and economic advantages. Besides, it adheres to agricultural production principles and environmental considerations, in accordance with the country's policies, and ensures food security. The designed production model aims to achieve 7.5% more production using 5.8% less water nationally.
