From Iran to Venezuela: ABRII Expands International Research Network

A high-level scientific delegation from the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran (ABRII) has arrived in Venezuela at the official invitation of the Venezuelan Minister of Science and Technology. The delegation, comprising Prof. Mehran Enayati Shariatpanahi, ABRII’s Deputy Director for Research, and Prof. Saeid Pourdad, ABRII’s Deputy Director for Planning and Budget, was warmly welcomed upon arrival by Dr. Alberto Quintero, Vice Minister for the Application of Scientific Knowledge and Director General of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC).

During their intensive program, the Iranian scientists conducted technical visits to multiple IVIC research facilities including the Nanotechnology Research Center, Center for Biophysics, Physiology Research Center, Microbiology Center, and Oceanography Center. These visits facilitated substantive discussions about potential joint research initiatives with Venezuelan counterparts.

The parties developed concrete frameworks for collaboration during dedicated working sessions, identifying specific projects that combine ABRII's agricultural biotechnology expertise with IVIC's specialized research capabilities. The delegation also participated in the inauguration ceremony of Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán University of Sciences, highlighting the growing academic partnership between the two nations.

This visit marks an important milestone in the growing scientific partnership between Iran and Venezuela, demonstrating both nations' commitment to leveraging advanced agricultural biotechnology for sustainable development.
