INNOFARM Bridges Innovation and Industry for Iran's Food Security

Under the slogan “Today’s Innovation, Tomorrow’s Food Security,” the INNOFARM Exhibition and Innovation Event for the livestock, poultry, and aquaculture industries was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Iran Innovation and Technology House (Hall 37A, Tehran International Permanent Fairgrounds). Organized jointly by the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran (ABRII) and the Iranian Feed Industry Association, the one-day event brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture Jahad, representatives from the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, private sector leaders, and innovators from Iran’s livestock innovation ecosystem.

The event coincided with the 24th International Livestock, Poultry, and Aquaculture Exhibition and aimed to foster collaboration among industry, investors, and knowledge-based enterprises to drive sustainable development in Iran’s animal protein sector.

A New Chapter in Public-Private-Research Collaboration

Dr. Maryam Hashemi, Scientific Secretary of INNOFARM, highlighted the event’s unique model of cooperation between the private sector—represented by the Iranian Feed Industries Association—and ABRII, one of the country’s leading agricultural research centers.

Channeling Smart Capital into a $5 Billion Industry

Prof. Ebrahimi, Head of ABRII, noted that Iran’s livestock, poultry, and aquaculture sector represents a $3.5–5 billion market and stressed the need to direct “smart capital” toward viable innovations. “ABRII is fully committed to placing its scientific and technical capacities at the service of this industry,” he affirmed.

Sealing the Partnership

The event culminated in the signing of six cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding. These pacts, involving ABRII, the Iran Feed Industry Association, private holding companies, and key national technology and policy-making institutions, are designed to formalize the collaboration between research, industry, and investment, paving the way for concrete projects in the sector.

INNOFARM has set the stage for a new era of innovation-driven food security in Iran—where science, industry, and smart investment converge to build resilience, reduce import dependency, and empower the nation’s animal protein sector.
